Premier Boxing Club Announces 6th Annual Spring Break Tournament

Due in large part to the Olympics, amateur boxing has long been chastised for its lack of resemblance to that of professional boxing, as well as some very questionable international rules, and scoring.  I challenge that notion with this, Olympic style amateur boxing is nowhere near the same as amateur boxing governed by USA Boxing.  Amateur boxing here in the States contains all the passion and action that one expects to see in the paid ranks.

Along those lines, the amateur boxing scene in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex has grown by leaps and bounds in the past years.  Proof of its spiking popularity can be found upon visiting any amateur tournament hosted by Premier Boxing Club.  Premier Boxing Club is one of the most respected institutions in the ultra competitive Fort Worth boxing scene, and a tournament by them is sure to include some of the region’s best amateurs.  Headed by Ricky Sanchez, Premier Boxing Club does a brilliant job of balancing the tradition of North Texas amateur boxing, with innovative ways to give the boxers, and fans a memorable experience.  The results have been noticeable as anyone who visits a Premier tournament will quickly find that the fans who attend are passionate, knowledgeable, and not afraid to speak their minds if the action in the ring lulls.

This month, Premier will hold their sixth annual Spring Break tournament. I attended the event last year and was amazed by the turnout.  Parked cars lined the street for blocks, and being tardy, I found myself having to hike through a park, and traverse a creek, in order to get to the Sycamore Community Center.  Needless to say, the energy level in the building was incredible.  If you have never been to an amateur tournament before, make this one the one you attend.
