DFW Pro Boxing Calendar

black_gloves_rock_the_box_posterAfter suffering an almost painful stretch with no live professional boxing, the Dallas/Ft. Worth prizefighting scene will at last climb back on the saddle.  Fight fans had to endure most of May and all of June with nada.  Luckily, the Metroplex and its fighters gets back on course in July with a live show, road trips, and a desire to close the year strongly.

On July 17th, Black Gloves Promotions presents “Rock the Box – Making History with the Future”, from the Harbor Amphitheatre at Lake Ray Hubbard, in Rockwall, TX.  Reigning Texas super welterweight champion, Charles “The Future” Hatley (11-0, 9 KO’s) will headline this summertime lakeside event.  Also on the card will be the long anticipated debut of  Charles’ older brother, Greg Hatley, Jr., known as “The Technician”.  Hatley, Jr. will be throwing hands with the dangerous Kentrelle Claibourne (1-0, 1 KO), of Cleburne.

In a tantalizing co-feature, West Dallas’ own, Larry “Slomoshun” Smith (8-1, 6 KO’s) will vie for the vacant Texas middleweight title with Vernon’s James “Boogie” Freeman (6-2, 5 KO’s).  This will be a rematch of a close fight won by Smith, in February of this year.

Mark “Too Sharp” Davis (12-0, 4 KO’s), the always entertaining Rafael Casias (2-3), and hot local prospect, Fernando Rodriguez (3-0, 2 KO’s), round out the card.

Black Gloves Promotions will bounce right back on August 21st, hosting a night of fights during the Mid-Cities Links annual black-tie boxing event.  Speaking of “black-tie events”, Paulie Ayala Productions hosts one of its’ own on August 27th, from the Renaissance-Worthington hotel in downtown Ft. Worth.  In September, the hits just keep on coming as Paulie Ayala and Black Gloves each have shows scheduled, on the 16th and 18th, respectively.

Be sure to jot these dates down on your calendar!

Tonight, Dallas area veteran, Taronze “T-Reezy” Washington (14-13, 7 KO’s), former holder of the Texas super welterweight and middleweight titles, simultaneously, will travel down I-45 to bump heads with the one and only Ramon “Yori Boy” Campas (92-15-1, 74 KO’s).  This bout will headline “Battle at the Border” in Houston, TX.  On the undercard, 2010 Dallas Golden Gloves champion, Marchristoper Adkins, will make his pro debut.

(North Texas Fisticuffs would like to welcome Josue Arguello to our ever-expanding team of fight junkies!  Arguello is an unabashed boxing fanatic and his contributions to our humble little site are much appreciated.)
